Ya wanna know why Service is a pillar of my Bookkeeper’s Business Incubator?

Because you can be the best salesman in the world, have the most beautiful chef’s kiss👩‍🍳💋 systems in place, but if you aren’t providing an exceptional level of service to your clients… womp womp. It’s all for nothing, lady!

If you want to be a six-figure bookkeeper, you must learn how to retain high-paying clients.

Why offering an elevated service experience is important

🛌 Think about why you pay more to stay at a Ritz Carlton than a Motel 6….

They both essentially do the same thing — give you a place to sleep, shower, and grab breakfast.

But it’s all about the details, right?

🤷‍♀️ One is a bare-bones, get the job done kinda place.

💅 One offers an elevated experience that is created by providing a high level of service.

If you want high-paying people coming to your business, you gotta give ‘em the high level of service they expect.

This means you must be communicating proactively, double-checking for possible errors or mistakes, and completing tasks in a timely manner. When possible, find opportunities to go above and beyond — like offering suggestions for saving money or referring them to reputable accountants, advisors, etc.

Setting expectations with clients

One way I teach my Incubator students to provide a high level of service is by establishing expectations with new clients from the start.

There are a million little details that make up the relationship between you and your client. The smallest misalignments build friction, which can create an unenjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Money is like medicine, it’s incredibly intimate. So as soon as clients start to lose trust or feel uncomfortable, they’ll have no problem taking their business elsewhere.

So, how do we prevent this from happening? By replacing assumptions with expectations. My advice is to write everything down, so both you and your client have something physical to refer back to from time to time.
